Tour: Interior and Organ

Tivoli Stage Crew

Repainted in 2003, the interior was redone in

a color scheme designed by the late Joseph

DuciBella, the premier interior designer of

this style of architecture in the country.

There are no color photos of the original

paint scheme from 1928, so it was decided to

be “true to the period” but not attempt to

reproduce the original colors. The

repainting took two men 1 year to complete.

The gold paint is real gold, not imitation gold

which would tarnish over time.

Our organ is a 3

manual, 10 rank,

Wurlitzer pipe organ

that was made in

1924 and originally

installed in the

Indiana Theatre in

East Chicago, IN.

Virtually all the parts

except the relay are

original to this

instrument. The relay

has been upgraded to

a microprocessor system with MIDI playback and record capabilities. With

that feature the organ can be played as a “player piano” when no organist

is available to play it live. Further information about the organ can be

found on the History and Technical Info pages of this website.
